Making a good idea a challenging reality

So it has finally begun!

After a year of talking about it, we have taken action!  We have finally begun to roast our own coffee!!!  WOOHOO!  We finally took the plunge... ordered some green beans (no not that kind) and received our package from the great people at UPS yesterday!  We can not wait to get started creating delicious coffee roasts for all to enjoy! :)

As coffee lovers in a world that thrives off the java, we felt the pull to delve into the world of coffee processing for ourselves.  Instead of walking down to the nearest Starbucks, chatting up the barista (much love to my baristas!), and then forking over our hard earned dollar (more accurately 2 dollars) for a cup of coffee we know nothing about.... why not familiarize ourselves with how a cup of coffee comes to be and joining in on the journey?  Why not attempt to become intimately acquainted with the drink that has revolutionized popular culture today (I am sure more thoughts about this will be coming)?

So here we are, about to begin our own exploration of coffee...

Where it comes from
How to roast it
How to brew it
How to best enjoy it
What it means to us as a culture
and Where we are involved in this process.

I (Alyssa) realize this is a lot to consider, but I also think it is impossible to talk about coffee with out talking about all these different aspects.  Coffee isn't just water strained through some cooked up beans.  I believe it is an experience, it is relational, it is an art, and it can be a passion.

Yes I know... i have strong feelings about coffee.

Anyway, as we begin the labor of love (and trial and error) of roasting our own coffee, here is our vision...

We EXPECT to have a great time learning about and (hopefully) mastering the rewarding process of roasting our own coffee.
We HOPE to eventually make coffee that we (and everyone we know) will want and enjoy drinking.
We DREAM that this will turn into something long-lasting, larger and lucrative!

We are excited, and hope you are excited as well!  Tonight we begin with the first roasting results!

much love!

Alyssa

I DREAM that you become mega-billionairs, who I can tell people "yeah the founder of way-awesomer-than-Starbucks-if-thats-even-possible, she's like one of my best friends her shop single handedly funds my ministry." Dare to Dream!
